It’s the ultimate girls’ night out. A group of women taking what’s theirs and learning how to navigate (and dominate) in a man’s world — with a stripper pole. And then there’s the cast of heavy-hitters — Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, and Lizzo. All role models of strong women in their own ways from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. What’s not to love?

But here’s what you really need to know before you go to the movies and watch all of these incredible Hollywood stars climb the pole.

1. Pole is for everybody and every body

In an iconic scene from the movie, Jennifer Lopez shows Constance Wu a few pole tricks, and Wu deflates. “I can’t do that. What if you don’t have muscles to do that?” From the pole, Jennifer Lopez replies matter-of-factly, “You can, and you will. Every girl has muscles to do this.”

There’s a common misconception that pole dancing is for young, thin women with strong arms and an athletic build. Or more recently, for men.

As the founding organization behind the “pole fitness” movement more than 20 years ago, S Factor has led thousands of women of all levels of ability to discover their own sensual, feminine power. You don’t have to be an athlete to join the diverse women of S Factor in tapping into your own power. Your body, age, and shape are not obstacles to dancing — your beliefs are the only limitations. You can do this, and this is for you.

2. It’s not about how you look — it’s about you
feel.

When you get on the pole, you get to own your space. One of the first things you’ll notice if you enter an S Factor studio, event, or retreat is that there are no mirrors. S Factor is designed around creating supportive, judgment-free spaces where women can turn inward and release themselves of fear, expectations, and limitations. When you come to S Factor, you come to let loose and be who you are in full, free feminine expression. And really, you don’t even have to touch the pole.

3. This is not a workout practice.

No, really. Something magical happens when you give S Factor a try for the first time. With the intuitively designed combination of meditation, slow sensual movements that help rewire your nervous system, and dance, –  your whole being steps into a new level of aliveness.. It’s nothing like a fitness class. S Factor guides you into a sensuous, empowering movement of self-expression and feminine freedom that works with your body, not against it, and it Just. Feels. So. Good.

4. Dancing is great for friendships with other women.

As portrayed in this women-led, women-directed and women-written film, feminine movement practices like pole dancing build strong sisterhoods. At S Factor, we’ve created and cultivated a community of women who nourish themselves and others. We celebrate your growth and nurture your transformation in a judgment-free, uniquely supportive space.
