There’s a lot more to pole dancing than meets the eye, and while everyone seems to have an idea of what a pole dance class is like, you’d be surprised by how much inaccurate information there is out there. So here’s a list of 5 myths about pole dance classes (that aren’t even a little bit true) to ease your mind.

You have to be really fit and/or look like Instagram pole dancers

This is just hands down untrue (for many reasons). First and foremost: pole is for everybody and every body. You don’t have to be an athlete to take these classes – feminine bodies of any age, size and shape can join. At S Factor we focus on finding your authentic, fluid feminine movement. We are not in the business of sculpting women – we’re in the business of empowering women.

Pole dance classes are all about pole tricks

If you are all about pole tricks and technique, that is absolutely available (try our Super Pole classes) For the most part, however, our pole dance classes focus on a combination movement methods that help you feel strong, sexy and fabulous in the body you’re in.

At S Factor, classes consist of moving meditations, core and strength building, pole tricks, dancing (and more…).

We even offer classes purely focused on dancing (try Pure Dance), and classes that are simply about connecting to your body and quieting your mind (S Meditation and S Flex). There are so many options to choose from. If pole tricks alone don’t turn you on, come discover what does.

You’ve got to get every trick right, every time

This is a big one, especially for newcomers to the world of pole dance. Our classes are not about performing – they are about pleasure. Pole dancing is for fun, for building strength, for feeling sexy, for making friends…  it is whatever you need it to be! There is absolutely no expectation that you will get it right every single time.

Pole dance classes are expensive

Pole dancing has a bad reputation for being an expensive hobby. While certainly more expensive than yoga classes, pole dancing classes offer you a niche skill and have longer, and smaller classes (which means more teacher attention on each individual student).

At S Factor we offer membership options allowing students an affordable monthly payment that allows open access to our classes in each studio.

There’s no one to talk to about advice on pole dancing classes

The pole dancing community is a passionate bunch that is always open to questions and welcoming newcomers. The community of women at S Factor is unbelievably strong and loving, and they are ready to welcome you with open arms!
